NSYSU latest prevention for COVID-19 (0407)

Dear Student,

Starting from April 8th, the following measures will be implemented in NSYSU for effective prevention against coronavirus disease (COVID-19). Your cooperation is vital for successful prevention and is greatly appreciated.

1. Course Adjustment based on “Social Distancing”

For all classes in NSYSU:

(1) For a class size of over 100 students, online teaching or dividing the class into smaller groups will be arranged.

(2) For a class size of below 100 students:

A. In the classroom, wearing face masks is not mandatory if seating follows social distancing guidelines (1.5 meters indoors), seats are fixed, and walking around is not necessary. However, once instructors and students engage in close contact or conversation, it is mandatory to put on face masks immediately.

B. If the distance between seats cannot be maintained 1.5 meters apart, all students must wear face masks. Instructors can request the students without face masks to leave and return to the classroom after they get and wear face masks.

C. For outdoor classes, social distancing (1 meter) should be maintained according to the regulation of the Ministry of Education. If social distancing cannot be kept, all students should wear face masks throughout the class.

D. For experiential classes, as social distancing usually cannot be properly followed, all students should wear face masks throughout the class.

2. Coronavirus (COVID-19) Disease Prevention Measures after Tomb Sweeping Day (Qingming) Long Weekend

(1) Campus-wide disinfection has been done on April 2nd and 3rd.

(2) Within 14 days after returning from the long weekend, all NSYSU students should stay alert to your own health condition and take the temperature every day. If any symptoms occur, you must put on face masks immediately, request for medical treatment or rest at home, and report your condition to NSYSU.

(3) ALL students must fill out the “Questionnaire of travel history during Qingming consecutive holidays - for NSYSU CLC students.” For those who conceal information or lie while filling out the questionnaire, a penalty will be imposed according to the relevant regulations. If you need to take leaves, please report to your department or institute first and complete the process of leave application within 3 days after you return to the campus. Leaves taken due to COVID-19 prevention will not account for semester score deduction. Instructors can request the students to take remedial learning courses. If students plan to take classes in person, it is mandatory to inform the instructors in advance, receive permission for going to classes, and wear face masks throughout the time on campus.

3. Entry Control to the Buildings in NSYSU

Starting from April 10th, entry control will be strengthened. All faculty members, staff and students need to hold valid NSYSU identification cards to be granted entry to the buildings in NSYSU. For visitors and those who do not obtain proper identification, registration is required before entering the buildings.

4. Student/Faculty Clubs, Competitions and Other Social Events

From April 6th to 26th, all activities and sports competitions for faculty, staff and students are temporarily suspended. Student club offices are closed as well. Further notifications will be announced following the development of the COVID-19 situation.
